The AHA generally supports the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services鈥 proposals to increase flexibility in plan design, cost sharing and enrollment for the Medicare Advantage and prescription drug programs in 2019, but recommends caution to ensure that the added flexibility provides value鈥
The AHA this week applauded the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission鈥檚 draft recommendation to provide positive updates for the inpatient and outpatient prospective payment systems in 2019, noting the commission鈥檚 projection that the overall hospital Medicare margin will fall to negative 11% in鈥
It鈥檚 a new year but Congress has some old business to attend to鈥攊ncluding many critical hospital and health system priorities.  Both Houses of Congress will be back in session next week. Front and center is legislation to keep the government open past January 19.
