Post-Acute/Long-Term Acute Care
CMS recently issued final rules for fiscal year 2017 for three post-acute care prospective payment systems.
We are pleased CMS reversed the effects of the 0.2 percent payment reduction that was part of the original 鈥渢wo-midnight鈥 policy, and restored the resources that hospitals are lawfully due. However, we are disappointed that CMS finalized an unjustified cut to reimbursement rates for hospital鈥
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services today issued final rules for inpatient rehabilitation facilities, skilled nursing facilities and hospice providers for fiscal year 2017. For IRFs, CMS implements a net payment increase of 1.9%, or $145 million, compared to FY 2016.
The Senate this week approved legislation allowing public and nonprofit skilled nursing facilities to apply for support from the Universal Service Fund鈥檚 Rural Health Care Program, which provides funding for telecommunications and broadband services used to provide health care in rural communities鈥
