AHA鈥檚 Leadership Summit will deliver a speaker and topic to engage everyone, from trustee to clinician to CEO.
This weekend, I was pleased to participate in a robust, AHA-sponsored discussion as part of the Aspen Ideas: Health Festival on how hospitals and health systems are adapting to this new push beyond our traditional boundaries, and what this shift means for affordability, patient outcomes and the care experience.
The AHA leverages the nation鈥檚 leading platforms to share the story of how hospitals and health systems are advancing health in America.
Few forums are more influential than (June 20-23), opening the 2019 Aspen Ideas Festival, 鈥渨here health care鈥檚 biggest challenges meet its biggest thinkers.鈥 This unique environment draws attendees from around the world for three days of panels, presentations and conversations on cutting-edge health issues.
Marshaling the right workforce competencies to meet your future goals is a necessity for every hospital and health system.
Hospitals and health systems foster the development of healthy life all around them.聽 They are caregivers foremost 鈥 working tirelessly to advance the cause of good health for patients and communities. They are economic anchors 鈥 providing jobs and partnering with businesses to bolster the local economy. And they are researchers and bridge-builders 鈥 meeting the health needs of their surrounding communities by working closely with traditional and non-traditional partners.聽
During Mental Health Month, let鈥檚 all remember that caring for the whole person improves health and saves lives.
Our hospitals and health systems are exceptional because the 6.2 million women and men who deliver care within them never lose sight of the core truth: Health care is people taking care of people.
More than three-quarters of U.S. hospitals offer patients the ability to connect with caregivers at a distance, ensuring that care is delivered at the right time.
Telehealth extends the reach of patient care worldwide. But its chief tools 鈥 videoconferencing, remote monitoring, electronic consults and wireless communications 鈥 cannot be used to full advantage due to regulatory, technical and payment obstacles. In short, telehealth technology is outpacing the rules that govern it.
In my experience, health care is a team sport. 聽Patient outcomes and experiences improve when caregivers are expert communicators 鈥 trained on best practices for interaction not only with patients, but also with one another. 聽
There is no doubt that enhanced convenience and customer service is where health care is headed.
