Colleen Scanlon, senior vice president and chief advocacy officer for Catholic Health Initiatives, discusses the organization’s widespread efforts to prevent violence in the communities they serve. She said the campaign, which began 10 years ago, demonstrates that real progress in total community health can be achieved when health care providers are open to advocacy – and community collaboration – outside the four walls of a hospital.
