Health care leaders in a post-pandemic era will require a new set of skills – from innovative preparation to evolutionary transformation. They will need knowledge, experiences and confidence to lead through uncertainties and meet the changing needs of an increasingly complex environment. The AHA Next Generation Leaders Fellowship aims to turn accomplished and rising health care professionals into future leaders by empowering them to bring about real and lasting change in the hospital and health systems in which they now serve.

Those that are accepted into the Fellowship will be matched with an experienced health care leader who will serve as their mentor to guide and coach them throughout the 12-month program where fellows will work on a capstone project specific to a challenge within their organization. Mentors are senior health care leaders in executive or c-suite positions who are willing to share their knowledge and time, about 1-3 hours each month, with a future health care leader. To hear from former mentors on their experience, check out this short video. If you are interested in supporting an up-and-coming health care leader for our 2025-2026 cohort of the Fellowship, we encourage you to complete the below interest form. Selected mentors will be notified in May. To foster a strong relationship, selected mentors will be encouraged to attend the kick-off event in Chicago on June 23-24, 2025 to meet their fellow.

Thank you for your interest in the AHA Next Generation Leaders Fellowship.
