To address this, each postpartum patient is given an orange wristband at discharge to serve as an alert. The bands are worn until the mother’s postpartum appointment with their provider. Additionally, if a post-partum patient has a medical emergency and is not able to communicate, the bracelet informs providers and emergency personnel of her postpartum status.
