This prompted the AHA to begin an immediate review of our political giving practices to ensure they are guided by our Association’s vision and mission, as well as the democratic values we share as a nation.

“AHA’s political contributions are made under the authority of the AHA Board of Trustees in consultation with our Political Action Committee Steering Committee, state hospital association partners, and hospital and health system leaders from lawmakers’ states and districts.

“Our decision process evaluates each candidate individually based on a broad set of factors. After conversations with the groups mentioned above, we have decided that for individuals who voted against accepting the results of the Electoral College, we will immediately suspend political contributions.

“Hospitals and health systems have a special role to play as community leaders, healers and caregivers for our patients and the wider communities we serve. As we said last week, now is the time for our country to come together and begin the healing process.”
Thu, 14 Jan 2021 10:59:12 -0600 AHAPAC Special Bulletin: AHA Statement on Tragic Events at U.S. Capitol /special-bulletin/2021-01-12-aha-statement-tragic-events-us-capitol
AHA President and CEO Rick Pollack issued the following statement today in response to the violence last week at the U.S. Capitol.

“Like Americans everywhere, the Association has reacted with alarm, outrage, and horror as the unfolding story around the violence at the Capitol grows ever worse.

“Make no mistake. We cannot support behavior that is violent and divisive. We denounce the acts of last week and the words and actions that contributed to the rioting at the Capitol.

“As AHA stated last week, peaceful protest is a cherished right, but violence and mob rule is forever out of bounds. We condemn the planning and execution of the assault on the Capitol in the strongest possible terms, including all parties involved in instigating the violence.

“Given these tragic events, AHA, like many organizations, is immediately reviewing our political giving practices to ensure they are guided by our Association’s vision and mission, as well as the democratic values we share as a nation.”
Tue, 12 Jan 2021 16:44:48 -0600 AHAPAC AHAPAC /ahapac/candidateads
Working to Elect People Who Care About America's Hospitals and Health Systems

AHAPAC Supports Sen.
