

HHS Announces Distribution of Funds to Children鈥檚 Hospitals
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) today that it will distribute $1.4 billion in funds from the Public Health and Social Services Emergency Fund to almost 80 children鈥檚 hospitals. HHS identified eligible hospitals as those that:
- are exempt under the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services inpatient prospective payment system; or
- are a Health Resource and Services Administration-defined Children鈥檚 Hospital Graduate Medical Education facility.
Eligible hospitals will receive 2.5% of their net revenue from patient care. These payments will begin to be made next week.
鈥淭he AHA thanks HHS for distributing additional targeted emergency relief funds to children鈥檚 hospitals on the frontlines in the fight against this pandemic,鈥 AHA President and CEO Rick Pollack today said. 鈥淭his funding will help ensure these hospitals have the resources they need to care for their patients and communities. In addition, we continue to urge the Administration to distribute additional relief to all hospitals and health systems, as well as those in so-called 鈥榟ot spots.鈥欌
The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act and Paycheck Protection Program and Health Care Enhancement Act included $175 billion in the Public Health and Social Services Emergency Fund to reimburse health care providers for health care-related expenses or lost revenues not otherwise reimbursed that are attributable to COVID-19.
