The AHA Dec, 4 released its 2024 Environmental Scan, which provides key data and insights on the current health care landscape and helps hospitals and health systems explore important issues with staff, leaders, boards and community stakeholders.   
  
“The Environmental Scan highlights emerging trends and innovative approaches that hospitals and health systems are taking to improve clinical care, operational efficiency and consumer engagement,” said AHA President and CEO Rick Pollack. “It helps our field to strategically chart the best pathways forward and plan for the future.”  
  
The 2024 Environmental Scan covers a variety of topics, including:  

• The state of hospital and health system financial stability.  
• The use of artificial intelligence to improve operations and allow clinicians to spend more time with patients.
• Health care consumerism, including retail clinic trends and “infodemic” management strategies.
