CDC: Data support safety of COVID-19 vaccine during pregnancy

COVID-19 vaccination during pregnancy was not associated with greater risk of preterm or small-for-gestational-age birth in a study comparing over 10,000 women who received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine during pregnancy with more than 36,000 women who did not, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention today.
鈥淭hese data add to the evidence supporting the safety of COVID-19 vaccination during pregnancy,鈥 the authors said, noting that previous studies of maternal COVID-19 vaccination and birth outcomes have been limited by small sample size or lack of an unvaccinated comparison group.
CDC recommends COVID-19 vaccination for women who are pregnant, recently pregnant or might become pregnant to reduce the risk for severe COVID-19-associated illness.
