CDC advisors issue COVID-19 vaccine initial phase recommendations

An independent advisory group for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention health care personnel and long-term care facility residents receive vaccinations against COVID-19 in the program’s initial phase.
Based on the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices’ recommendations, 24 million Americans would be eligible for vaccination during Phase 1a of CDC’s distribution plan, which would begin following Food and Drug Administration approval of a candidate vaccine; this includes the nation’s 21 million health care workers.
