AHA comments on LTCH proposed rule, seeks COVID-19-related accommodations
The AHA today submitted comments to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services on the agency鈥檚 long-term care hospital prospective payment system proposed policy changes and fiscal year 2021 rates.
The letter highlights the valuable contributions made by LTCHs in the fight against COVID-19. As part of the letter, AHA asked CMS to consider expanding and extending several extraordinary circumstances exceptions that were put in place for LTCHs during the COVID-19 public health emergency.
AHA also reminded CMS that LTCHs 鈥渞equire coding that accurately reflects the virus鈥 full impact, especially for higher-acuity patients who need extensive acute and post-acute services to recover.鈥
