CMS updates Medicare, Medicaid drug spending dashboardsÂ

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services today updated its Medicare and Medicaid drug spending with 2018 data. The dashboards show trends in average spending per dosage unit for prescription drugs paid under Medicare Parts B and D and Medicaid, as well as 2018 Part B spending on discarded drug units. In 2018, total gross spending on prescription drugs was $168.1 billion in Medicare Part D, $33.3 billion in Part B and $66.4 billion in Medicaid.
