President to nominate Houston physician leader as FDA commissioner

President Trump today his intention to nominate Stephen Hahn, M.D., to lead the Food and Drug Administration. Ned Sharpless, M.D., has been serving as acting FDA commissioner since Scott Gottlieb, M.D., resigned this spring. 鈥淭he AHA welcomes the nomination of Dr. Stephen Hahn, a renowned oncologist and physician leader, to be the next commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration,鈥 said AHA President and CEO Rick Pollack. 鈥淎s the chief medical executive at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Dr. Hahn leads the medical practice at one of the world鈥檚 top hospitals devoted to cancer care, research, education and prevention.
