Health care human resource professionals convene in Chicago

More than 1,000 human resource leaders and partners convened this week at the annual conference of the AHA’s American Society for Health Care Human Resources Administration in Chicago. Speakers included Captain Richard Phillips, a merchant marine who shared lessons from saving his crew from Somali pirates; Britt Berrett, director of the undergraduate Healthcare Management Program at the University of Texas at Dallas, and former president of Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas and executive vice president of Texas Health Resources; and author and motivational speaker Christine Cashen. ASHHRA also presented its Outstanding Leadership and Service Award to James (Jamie) Parsons, senior vice president of human resources at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Edgewood, Ky.; HR Visionary Leader Award to Tanya Rippeth, senior director of human resources at Vail (Colo.) Health; and Gary Willis Leadership Award to Colin Lyle, senior manager of talent acquisition for AdventHealth in Altamonte Springs, Fla.
