Programs honored for innovation in palliative, end-of-life care

Three programs that expand the reach of palliative and end-of-life care will receive 2019 Circle of Life Awards July 26 at the AHA Leadership Summit in San Diego. They are: Western Reserve Navigator, Hospice of the Western Reserve, Cleveland; Palliative Care Services, UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital, Aurora, Colo.; and the University Health System Palliative Care Team, San Antonio, Texas. In addition, the Medical University of South Carolina Palliative Care Program, Charleston, S.C., will receive a citation of honor. 鈥淭he work of this year鈥檚 honorees represents the most innovative and creative thinking in end-of-life care,鈥 said AHA President and CEO Rick Pollack. 鈥淭hrough the use of technology, integrated systems of care and community support, these programs have raised the bar for meeting the needs of patients and their families.鈥 For more on the Circle of Life Award and 2019 honorees, see the AHA news release.
