Hospitals may apply for Medicare EHR program hardship exception
Eligible hospitals and critical access hospitals that did not qualify as meaningful users of certified electronic health record technology for the 2019 Medicare Promoting Interoperability Program may for a hardship exception to avoid the associated payment penalty. Inpatient prospective payment system hospitals may apply for the hardship exception through July 1, and critical access hospitals may apply through Nov. 30. For more information, visit .
