Dennis Pullin, president and CEO of Virtua Health in Marlton, N.J., will serve as 2019 chair of the AHA's Section for Metropolitan Hospitals. New council members for 2019 include: L. Dwayne Blaylock, CEO of Merit Health River Oaks in Flowood, Miss.; Verdi DiSesa, M.D., president and CEO of Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia; Michael Elliott, acting CEO for Centra Health Inc. in Lynchburg, Va.; Leon Haley Jr., M.D., CEO of UF Health – Jacksonville (Fla.); A.J. Harper, president of the Healthcare Council of Western Pennsylvania in Warrendale; Russell Johnson, president and CEO of Lawrence (Kan.) Memorial Hospital; Todd Sklamberg, president of Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center in Law Vegas; and Eileen Whalen, president and chief operating officer for UVM Medical Center in Burlington, Vt. The Section for Metropolitan Hospitals represents the AHA's metropolitan/urban, suburban, public and teaching hospital members by participating in the AHA's advocacy, policy and resource development, with a particular focus on strategic opportunities.
