Alaska hospitals remain open during quake, escape major damage
All Alaska hospitals remained opened during Friday’s earthquake and damage was minimal, according to the Alaska State Hospital & Nursing Home Association. The 7.0-magnitude quake was centered about 10 miles northeast of Anchorage, where Providence Alaska Medical Center only cosmetic damage. The association’s Anchorage office also received only minimal damage. President Trump Friday an emergency in the state and ordered federal assistance to supplement state and local response efforts in affected areas.
