The National Center for Healthcare Leadership last night presented its 2018 to Nancy Howell Agee, president and CEO of Carilion Clinic and 2018 AHA chair, in Chicago. The annual award recognizes a health care leader whose commitment, values and contributions embody the center鈥檚 vision to improve the health of the public through leadership and organizational excellence. 鈥淢ost of us entered this field with a sense of calling, a desire to provide care and compassion to those in times of need,鈥 Agee noted in her remarks. 鈥淪o whether you are a young caregiver, a new health care executive or a seasoned leader looking to inspire and mentor others, I offer these three truths that guide me: Serve others first. Embrace our differences. Value all people.鈥
