HHS issues RFI on 21st Century Cures Act EHR Reporting Program
The Department of Health and Human Services today issued a seeking input on reporting criteria for the Electronic Health Record Reporting Program required by the 21st Century Cures Act. The Cures Act requires the EHR Reporting Program’s reporting criteria to address security; interoperability; usability and user-centered design; conformance to certification testing; and other categories, as appropriate, to measure the performance of certified EHR technology. The Cures Act suggests several other categories for consideration, including exchanging data with clinical registries, and accessing and exchanging data from medical devices, and health information exchanges. For the RFI, HHS has focused on the five mandatory categories, but will accept comments on the additional categories as well. Comments on the RFI are due Oct. 17 at 5 p.m. ET.
