The Senate Committee on Veterans' Affairs today to advance President Trump’s nomination of Robert Wilkie to lead the Department of Veterans Affairs permanently. Wilkie has served as acting VA secretary since March and as under secretary of defense for personnel and readiness since last November. He previously served as assistant secretary of defense from 2005 to 2009. The nomination next moves to the full Senate for consideration.
