Dozens of House members testify at hearing on opioid crisis
The House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health this morning held a to receive testimony from more than 50 members of Congress, including Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (CA), on ways to combat the nationwide opioid epidemic. Representatives shared stories of their own constituents’ battles with opioid addiction, local efforts in their respective districts to address the epidemic, and recommendations for legislative and regulatory actions involving education, prevention, treatment and law enforcement. The hearing is the latest in a series to examine the issue, including to combat the crisis. AHA shared its recommendations for the federal response to the opioid crisis in a submitted this month to the Senate Health, Education, Labor & Pensions Committee.
