The American Medical Association and Regenstrief Institute today  an electronic health records training tool for medical schools. Developed as part of the AMA’s Accelerating Change in Medical Education Consortium, the Regenstrief EHR Clinical Learning Platform uses real de- and mis-identified patient data to safely allow students to virtually care for patients with multiple complex health conditions by navigating records, documenting encounters, and placing orders within an application that is similar to the EHRs used in practice, the organizations said. The University of Connecticut School of Medicine and Southern Indiana University School of Nursing have adopted the platform, and future users include the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University, Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine, and University of Idaho WWAMI Medical Education Program, a partnership with the states of Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana and Idaho.
