CDC funds six new infection prevention centers
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention today $11 million to create six new centers to help health care facilities prevent the spread of infectious diseases. The Prevention Epicenters will study new and better ways to prevent the spread of diseases such as Ebola, successful approaches to using personal protective equipment, and novel approaches to minimizing the role of the health care environment in germ transmission. The 2015-2018 funding went to Emory University, The Johns Hopkins University; University of Illinois, Chicago; University of Iowa; University of Maryland, Baltimore; and University of Utah.
