Private-sector alliance to promote value-based payment
A new private-sector alliance of health care providers, purchasers, payers and others aims to accelerate value-based payment and align private- and public-sector approaches, the group yesterday. By 2020, members of the Health Care Transformation Task Force seek to make 75% of their business value-based arrangements that 鈥渋ncentivize and hold providers accountable for the total cost, patient experience and quality of care for a population of patients, either across an entire population over the course of a year or during a defined episode that spans multiple sites of care.鈥 The group plans to make policy recommendations to the private and public sector, and yesterday issued for improving commercial, Medicare and Medicaid accountable care organizations. Its other initial priorities include developing a common bundled payment framework and improving care for high-cost patients.
