Podcast: 2014 National Health Care Governance Survey
The AHA’s Center for Healthcare Governance has released the results of its 2014 National Health Care Governance Survey. The report summarizes information about the state of hospital and health care governance, and builds on previous surveys of CEOs and trustees conducted in 1989, 1997, 2005 and 2011. The survey suggests that boards could be doing more to prepare hospitals and health systems for the transformation taking place in health care.
Produced in conjunction with the AHA, the 2014 survey included new questions about different types of boards, board selection and evaluation, board culture, and readiness for health care transformation. The survey report was sent to all AHA members and can be purchased at .
In an audio podcast, John Combes, M.D., the center’s president and chief operating officer, discusses the survey’s findings, and how boards can become more adept at managing change. Listen in .
