Please join the AHA Section for Maternal and Child Health and our partners in the Alliance for Innovation on Maternal Health (AIM) to learn of the tools and resources available to your hospital to reduce maternal mortality and morbidity. AIM joins together hospitals, state hospital associations, professional associations, and maternal and perinatal collaboratives to deliver Maternal Safety Bundles featuring evidence-based practices, training and technical support to prepare women’s health providers for common challenges. Each bundle consists of four domains – Readiness, Recognition, Response, and Reporting/Systems Learning.

Current and planned bundles include:

  • Obstetric Hemorrhage
  • Severe Hypertension in Pregnancy
  • Maternal Mental Health: Depression and Anxiety
  • Severe Maternal Morbidity Review
  • Maternal Venous Thromboembolism
  • Support After a Severe Maternal Event
  • Obstetric Care for Women with Opioid Use Disorder  
  • Reduction of Peripartum Racial/Ethnic Disparities
  • Postpartum Care Basics for Maternal Safety 
  • Transition to Well-Woman Care (in progress)
  • Safe Reduction of Primary Cesarean Birth

 

Bonnie Connors Jellen, MHSA, director, AHA Section for Maternal and Child Health/Member Relations, will moderate a discussion with Barbara S. Levy, M.D., FACOG, FACS, vice president, Health Policy, American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists; LaWanna Halstead, RN, MPH, vice president, Quality and Clinical Initiatives, Oklahoma Hospital Association; and Barbara O’Brien, MS, RN, director, Oklahoma Perinatal Quality Collaborative. 

Webinar participants will learn:

  • A brief history of AIM and progress to date
  • Proven impact of AIM on quality of care and patient safety and how you can participate
  • Future expansion of AIM and work on maternal use of opioids
  • From the opportunity in Q+A to get your questions answered
