The Missouri Hospital Association and Kansas Hospital Association are partnering with John Riggi, National Advisor for Cybersecurity and Risk, at the ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ Association to bring you the first-of-its-kind, strategic cybersecurity workshop. Cyber leaders from state and federal agencies will join us to discuss the global cyber threat landscape impacting health care in the region, including those arising from geopolitical tensions. Mr. Riggi also will address the newly proposed Department of Health and Human Services’ Cybersecurity strategy for the health care sector and what it means for health care executives. This workshop is designed for both technical and non-technical hospital and health system executives, as well as community partners, and will focus on cybersecurity as a strategic enterprise risk issue with implications to care delivery and patient safety. Participants will discuss and learn how to identify and reduce cyber risk across all clinical and business functions, and create an effective culture of cybersecurity.

Join the Florida Hospital Association as we host ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ Association's John Riggi, National Advisor for Cybersecurity and Risk, for an in-person, full-day cybersecurity workshop. John has spent nearly 30 years as a highly decorated veteran of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and serves as the first senior advisor for cybersecurity and risk for AHA and their 5000+ members. He leverages his distinctive experience at the FBI and Central Intelligence Agency in the investigation and disruption of cyber threats, international organized crime, and terrorist organizations to assist on policy and advocacy issues and provide trusted advisory services for hospitals and health systems across the nation.

The agenda will include:

• Overview of Cyber Threat Landscape Panel – FBI and AHA.
• Best practices and challenges from large systems and small hospitals.
• Ransomware preparedness and response.
• Incident response plans, identifying gaps, and elicit strategic decision making.
• A discussion-based exercise will be conducted in the afternoon.

Hospitals across the United States continue to be targets of ransomware and other types of cyberattacks. Not only can these events result in significant and costly breaches of patient information, but they also threaten hospital operations and patient outcomes. System encryption can result in denial of access to life-saving information and medical equipment, while recovery diverts resources from essential operations. Enterprise-wide education on risks and prevention continues to be critical to an organization’s cyber defense strategy.
